Lets get Energise -d

What is better on a cold Thursday afternoon than sitting down with a cuppa and finding out about a fantastic wedding business! NOTHING – so grab a cuppa and some cake and catch up with Sarah of the fabulous “Energise Weddings”

Sarah, all your stuff looks amazing, you’ve been in business 4 years but why did you start? “We were making gemstone jewellery to sell at craft fairs.  My now sister-in-law asked us to make jewellery for her bridesmaids and we caught the wedding bug!  We went on from their to make a range of jewellery and head-wear for brides and bridesmaids.”

All of your items are gorgeous – what is Energise Weddings USP (unique selling point)? “Although we have a range of Ready to Wear collections for brides to purchase from our real passion is making items to design.  We love nothing more than sitting down with a bride (and her bridesmaids) and finding out all about her and her wedding and then designing pieces especially for her!  Our Ready to Wear collections are largely made up of the ‘extra’ ideas that we have had when designing for brides.”

I love all things pretty, sparkly and gorgeous – I would love to be surrounded by your things all day! What is your favourite part of your job? “The satisfaction of creating the perfect finishing touches to someone’s special outfit.” And the least? “Filling out the tax return!” I don’t think anyone will argue with you there!

Do you have a most popular product or service? “It is definitely our design service. Even when purchasing one of our ready-made designs we normally end up altering them slightly when we get chatting.”

And personally, what is your favourite event to be involved in? “Our design parties.  We get together with the bride and her bridesmaids, they have a few glasses of wine and we design their jewellery and if they want to they can make some of it themselves.” That sounds great – fab idea for a hen or birthday party!

Speaking from your business point of view what is your top tip for brides? “Never buy your jewellery before your dress!”

We all love looking and talking about them – what is your favourite celebrity wedding and why? “I loved Holly Valance’s dress because it was so different.”

After a trip north of the boarder yesterday, back in our region – what is you perfect wedding venue? “It would have to say Ramside Hall as I got married there.” Bet it was wonderful!

You get to speak to lots of brides – especially a few months before if you are designing items for them – what trends do you think will be big for 2013? “I am loving the trend towards the 1920s glamour, it really lends itself to some amazing jewellery.  Also loving the over-sized flowers and the mint green colours.

Share with us a bit of “inspiration”! “A fellow wedding professional said to me a few weeks ago that ‘the harder you work the luckier you get’.  Struck a real cord with me as running your own business is so much work but also so rewarding and I do feel so lucky to be doing what I am doing.”

What is your favourite kind wedding fayre: “I love attending smaller wedding fairs where brides are not over whelmed by hundreds of suppliers.”

What is your wedding must have! “I have to say stunning accessories!” Of course!

Is there a “typical” day at Energise Weddings? “I spend time checking emails and Facebook for any messages from clients, talking to brides-to-be, designing accessories for clients and photo shoots and then ending with some networking on Facebook.

We have loved chatting online but where can we see you outside of cyberspace? “Our accessories are available to purchase in Celebrations @ All Occasions in Whitley Bay.  Our bespoke design service can also be arranged through this venue.  We will be at the Tyne the Knot wedding fayre in March.”

Can you share your advice for having your dream honeymoon? “We had a winter wedding then went to Lapland to see Santa.  I don’t think it matters where you go for your honeymoon but it should be something different that you will always remember.”

For you – what is your favourite wedding reading? “I read lots of wedding blogs for ideas and inspiration” and your favourite wedding related film? “It’s got to be the Wedding Singer!”

Thank you Sarah – we look forward to working with you at our fayre and networking on Facebook. If you want more – visit Energise Weddings on Facebook or online http://www.energiseweddings.co.uk.

The Explorer is back!

Well, despite the cold, grey Tyneside sky this blogger made it to the Lancastrian Suite on Sunday and what a fantastic selection of suppliers. For anyone unable to make it, here’s a quick run down of what was on offer:

There were 3 fantastic cars on display from Webbs special occasions cars – beautiful Rolls Royce’s – one particularly stunning car from 1952 – gorgeous interiors and well maintained!

On show were the wonderful wares of Just Perfect Weddings and Events Galleries in Cramlington and Washington – a great selection on offer by their permanent exhibitors – from stationery to wellies, wishing trees to umbrellas (some quite essential to a Tyneside based wedding!) Within this was the wonderful bespoke stationary from By Wendy – from invitations to full stationary packages – all created by Wendy!

Gorgeous dresses require gorgeous accessories – hand crafted swarovski crystals and pearl jewellery is always a classic choice and is created by Gina of By Gina. From bracelets to tiara’s necklaces to hair pins she offers a huge range of jewellery and accessories. And this jewellery is not just for weddings (anyone reading this and looking for Christmas gifts – check out the website!)

Looking for something to add a bit of fun to your reception – well getting people in a Shrek mask in all their finery seems to be the way to go! Fantastic photo booth and props to hire from Snaparazzi Photobooths!

Now no wedding is complete without cake (well in my personal opinion no afternoon is complete without cake but we will leave that ….) and Brides and Grooms you truly are spoilt for choice with “A truly Scrumptious Cake.”  While each and every cake on display was a work of art – I have to say a personal favourite was the Malteaser  covered cake! Unbelieveable!!! A great service on offer by Tracey with free loan on cake stands and pillars, a huge range of options and styles and some very, very yummy cake to try indeed!

Music can make or break a party, and AM DJ services know this! So with a pre-event meeting (to get your fav’s and the ones that are a big NO NO!) and text request service on the night you can be sure you have the music that suit your tastes – however eclectic!

Flowers … pulling together a beautiful bouquet is not as easy as it may appear (to some), there is a lot of time taken over getting the right styles, complimentary flowers, working with in season (and depending on requests – out of season) varieties all to look perfect on the big day! So it was lovely to meet Sarah, from Pom and Flo, who had some lovely displays, particularly gorgeous rustic styles on offer!

A delightful difference to this fayre was the “wandering brides” – modelling some fantastic dresses in and amongst us Fayre attendees – a great was to see the dresses up close and how they move, if you are a particularly active dancer you may want to make sure that the dress will give you room to strut your stuff (and gravity will not win out!) Great idea Gina!

Speaking of dresses, there were some fabulous collections on show by A.J.Bridal, based in Newburn. Give them a call if you are looking for your perfect dress – they have a great selection to choose from!

Sweets, sweets, who loves sweets! I do!!! And how about a gorgeous, themed candy buffet! The Candy Buffet Studio has some fantastic ideas to make your buffet stand out from the others!

Once your big day is over and you have your photograph album back and stored neatly on the coffee table – what is left as a daily reminder of your big day is your wedding ring! If you are still looking for the perfect ring – have a chat with Polished… who offer local craftsmanship and bespoke designs.

Your big day is your day.. a day to be the blushing bride (or gorgeous groom)! So treat yourself with  beauty treatments, and professional hair and make-up services by the big event. A great range of pre-wedding and wedding day treatments available.

I also got a chance to talk to two fantastic companies Made2matter and Make Bake and Decorate. A beautiful range of handmade, bespoke cakes, stationary and accessories. A couple of favourites were the stunning crystal bouquets and a dramatic black and white art deco cake! Looking to step out of the vintage trend – speak to these ladies! Fantastic and different ideas.

On my exploration I had two “assistants” – my niece and nephew! Now they say never work with children but all the exhibitors were fantastic! As they hunted around looking for their treasure (another fab idea Gina) they were looking and asking a lot of questions to people – including are we done yet! But it all made up for it when they got their goody bag from Kids Deserve the Best, a great service you can include in your wedding to allow children to be part of  your big day!

Though they seemed to tire walking around they did enjoy the singing! James Entertainment have a great range of entertainment options available for your big day – from “Rat-Packed” to “Just James” and quite a bit in between.

There were some gorgeous table and chair dressing going on yesterday. The Event Dressers had a beautiful table set out with not only chair covers and sashes but they can add-on napkin ties, table runners, filled favour bags – all matching into your theme. The linen was beautiful quality and they styling was first class.

Now, I’ve spoken about event dressing, make up, rings, dresses – what have I missed – estate agents! With so many couples marrying or celebrating a civil partnership later in life or after they have bought their own home, setting up together may not require the crockery and household items it used to – more often than not its needing to offload some and decide what to do with your 2 properties! So Clarke Holland were there to offer a  bit of advice to those couples with a couple of houses!

Guest books are a lovely way to see who was there and keep a special memento – but like photo albums they can find their way into a cupboard – only out at special occasions. Occasion Supplies have some fantastic guest signing frames and guest fingerprint frames for your friends and family to put their mark on your day!

Tyne Events were exhibiting with their wonderful chair covers and a lovely starlight backdrop. Not just chair covers – they have a range of packages to suit different budgets and styles – even offering a DIY chair cover service!

So from starlight backdrops to  mood lighting! Premier Wedding DJ‘s Chris was on hand to talk through all your music needs – from Disco services to photography slide shows, mood lighting to add to your venue or ceremony music services and the opportunity to have your name in lights!

We’ve spoken flower bouquets, crystal bouquets – lets not forget some gorgeous button bouquets – B Dazzled had some gorgeous bouquets on offer but a favourite of mine was the pinks – silk flowers and buttons – a fantastic bouquet and gorgeous keepsake!

I resisted before but the flying sherbet saucers on offer from Daisychain Events were just too much to resist! Daisychain offer a range of services to help with your big day – from the candy buffet on offer to styling, crockery hire and more!

To capture your special day, White Rose Productions was on call to talk through all the photography and video options – from the specifics of your photos to the finished packages (and they had some delightful albums to choose from), they offer a range of packages to suit all budgets.

So all in all a fantastic day – if you didn’t make it – these are the great suppliers I got a chance to speak to! You will see a bit more from a few of these on the blog and can grab their details from our Directory!
